FAQs

What is a Gong Bath?

A Gong Bath is a type of sound healing, where participants are immersed in the deep, resonant tones of the gong. When the gong is struck, it creates waves of sound that wash over the body and fill the space until we are 'bathing' in sound.

How will it make me feel?

There is no right or wrong way to experience a Gong Bath. Participants may feel a variety of emotional, mental, and physical sensations - or they may feel very little

Emotions can feel heightened during a gong bath, and you may experience strong feelings of joy or sadness. This can manifest as physical experiences, such as laughter or tears. People may also experience an emotional release, or the sensation of ‘letting go’. You may too experience mental focus or clarity.

Participants may notice a release of tensions held throughout the body, or the alleviation of pain. Gong vibrations can help to slow and regulate physical functions of the body, such as breathing, heart rate, or blood pressure.

These emotional and physical sensations can lead to deep relaxation and rest. Participants may experience drowsiness, and it is not uncommon to fall asleep.

All is welcome.

What will the venue/room look like?

You can expect a comfortable, welcoming space. Participants will be lying or sitting on mats throughout the experience, and the room will be warm and cosily lit. The Gong will be set up at the head of the room. You may wish to lie down with your head facing towards the gong.

What time should I arrive?

Doors will open 15 mins before the Gong Bath begins. Please arrive a little early to set yourself up, and perhaps share a cup of herbal tea!

What should I wear?

Please wear your comfiest, stretchiest clothes. You will be lying down for the gong bath, so you may like to wear/bring some extra layers of softness.

What should I bring?

Please bring a mat to lie on. You will also need a pillow/bolster and blanket for extra cosiness. You might also like to bring an eye mask.

(You do not need to bring anything for Yoga House events as the studio is equipped with the above).
